Thank goodness for the time we have allowed to us in class. EVERYONE has responsibilities that make it impossible to meet otherwise. Thank you.

Well, during this time I remember suggesting that we should use a particular video for the beginning. Sort of breaking the proverbial ice. I expressed to the group that we do not have ENOUGH technology in our project. The group agreed and we made commitments as to the technology based part of our project.

Film, video, audio, dance, etc. Sounds like a nice recipe.

Workin' the LOOONNGG Weekend

The long weekend was Father's Day weekend. I was invited out to eat with the family and ended up PAYING the BILL!!!!

I was determined to put down on paper the different concepts swirling in my head regarding Technology and opera. I really did it. I attempted to do a sort of timeline table riddled with significant events and geographic centering. At this point it is very raw. My group members are also beyond the brainstorming phase. We have decided on the ending(or a climax) to the presentation. The beginning of the presentation will also be a high point. After all, it can't be boring(if we can help it) and technology as a medium can be very exciting.

I actually handed my team members a physical copy of the rtf.file of my timeline because I thought it would help. Also, I wanted to demonstrate to the TEAM that I was "AWN IT!" heh heh

Well...what a difference a day makes. The group has been chugging along during the time I missed. I was informed by them of the happenings and plans of the class time PRIOR to my arrival. a very nice group group indeed to keep me up to speed with the minutes of our aims in the classroom.

Our project is divisded into three parts. The Opera. The Hip- Hop. The dynamic Differences and Similarities.

Individual experience and concensus in our aim to divulge the current fate of these two genres should yield good fruit.

My group and I had our first meeting. We discussed the aim and possible directions we could take our first theme: hip-hop and opera. I think that it was an easy desicion to make considering that the three of us( Kimberly, Christin and I) have alot of hip-hop, opera and pop music knowledge. We have come up with a tentative timeline perspective and I suggested that we climax the presentation with a hip-hop ultimate fusion that will , no doubt, be the cherry on top of it.

I want to be able to parallel each genre's dynamics relevant to it's existing culture. No easy task but we are still brainstorming. It is nice to have a destination ahead. We have come up with a wealth of sources rich in the 80's which is when hip-hop was in it's nascient stages. Christin has piano and vocal experience. Kimberly has dance and hip-hop experience. I opera experience and am a vocalist. I wouldn't be too shy to rap if need be. I will be depending on my group to inspire me and this project.
